Izy Coffey is a locally based folk-rock musician grounded in Appalachian folk music, country & blues, and indie-folk traditions. Trained in both Classical & Jazz Vocal traditions, their performances are grounded in hauntingly powerful vocals. They’ve shared the stage & opened for Rachael Price from Lakestreet Dive, Mal Devisa, & Signature Sounds signed artists Heather Maloney & And the Kids. They are locally & regionally acclaimed in Northampton, MA as well as the Pioneer Valley, & New England at-large.
In their words, "Growing up in a small rural town in Massachusetts, I learned very quickly the art of resilience. Living in the world today, I have very quickly the art of resilience. As a young, black queer, femme, i have learned the art of resilience. These are my survival songs. These are my love songs. These are my healing torches”.
Love Sung is the documentation of my past loves, heartbreaks, & new doors opening. It is in dedication to tender queer black hearts & the loves that change and shape them. This album has been the culmination of recording work for the past two years at 13 Queen Studio, Northampton, Ma.
